Byron Scott

How good do you have to be to have led the Showtime NBA Champion Lakers in scoring? You would have to be ‘Byron Scott’ good. After playing for three years for the Arizona State Sun Devils, Byron was drafted 4th overall in 1983 by the San Diego Clippers but was traded to the Lakers when the Clippers were looking to add a veteran in Norm Nixon. The rest is history.

During his ten years with the Lakers he was a member of the all-rookie team and became the starting shooting guard, known for his ability to shoot from the perimeter and drive hard to the hoop and defend. The three-time NBA champion also played for the Pacers, Vancouver, and Panathinaikos (Greek Basketball League) before taking his basketball smarts to the sidelines as a coach. In 2008 he was awarded Coach of the Year with the New Orleans Hornets. That is legendary.
